Welney in, Welney out

Bewick’s swans flew low over the car park as I departed from Welney, having broken the journey there on my recent trip to Snettisham. They called softly to each other as in waves they came into land on the sanctuary of the open water and it’s protection for the night.
On the return journey the next day I popped into WWT Welney again and this time three magnificent barnacle geese caught the eye, as well as a marauding marsh harrier that harried the wildfowl across the flooded fields of the Ouse Washes.
